Got to see a bit of Vancouver Island today!

11 september 2015 - Nanaimo, Canada

Sorry guys! I got a bit tired of writing in Dutch and English, so for now I'm going to write English only.

Anyway, today Will took me on a drive to Cathedral Grove since he had the day off. First we came by the Cameron Lake and took a small break there. We quickly moved on again, though, towards Cathedral Grove.

When we finally arrived there (it was an hour's drive), it turned out to be rather busy. Luckily we found a spot for the car and entered the forest of giant trees called Douglas-fir. The forest is one of the oldest ones around and the oldest tree in there is over 800 years old!

We got a little adventurous and crossed a brook using a fallen tree, and managed not to slip. We tried to skip some stones, but they were all to heavy. Will managed to make one skip twice, though.

Eventually we saw all there was and left the forest again. We then took off towards Parksville, a seaside town. We headed to the beach there, which was almost entirely stone. We could walk towards the sea for a long while because the tide was out. It was slowly going in again, though, so we had to hurry back.

I found a couple of shells there, even one that was still complete and attached. Will found the shell of a crab too.

We then headed back home.

You can check out the pictures I made of both the park and beach. I also made a little video of the complete shell, so please go check that out. I apologise in advance for some blurry pictures.
